"A multi-institutional study of renal outcomes and renal-related pregnancy outcomes in uterus transplant recipients"
(Am J Transplant. 2022 Dec;22(12):3101-3110. doi: 10.1111/ajt.17149. Epub 2022 Jul 23.)
In this article:
Uterus transplantation (UTx) has emerged as a highly effective treatment option for uterine factor infertility (UFI). In the wake of the world’s first successful live birth in 2014, uterus transplantation has rapidly expanded throughout the world, with 34 transplants and 22 live births in the United States alone. For all of its success, however, pregnancy after a uterus transplant remains complex, and pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia (PE) have been reported... Although the link between immunosuppression, diminished renal function, and pre-eclampsia has been suspected in solid organ transplant recipients, no prior studies have examined renal function in UTx patients and the correlation between kidney dysfunction with pre-eclampsia risk.
