2022-2023 Initiatives

  • Organize journal clubs that feature the first or last author discussing their work.
  • Organize Outstanding Questions in Transplantation Research – a web-based discussion forum by which COTS and the AST community-at-large can inform future research.
  • Outstanding Questions in Transplantation Research will be used as a platform for AJT mini-reviews to summarize and extend the discussion begun in the forum.
  • Actively participate in planning ITS 2023 now planned for April 2023. 
  • Submit proposals for basic science AND Translational symposia for ATC 2023.
  • Request funding from the AST Board of Directors (the Board), and submit proposal for AST-sponsored symposium at AAI 2023.
  • Request funding from the Board, and submit proposal for AST-sponsored symposium at FOCIS 2023.
  • Continue organizing quarterly journal clubs.
  • Propose basic science webinars and “Transplant in 10” basic science topics.
  • Write minireviews for AJT on the Outstanding Questions in Transplantation Research that have been discussed on the Hub.
  • Develop a pipeline through which COTS members can volunteer for ATC and ITS abstract reviewing, chairing sessions, awards, etc., to facilitate career development.
  • Continue to revisit mission statement and strategic plan.
  • Promote the online repository of experimental protocols and historical transplant papers on the COTS web page.
  • Nominate COTS members for the Board and leadership position with COTS as well as for the AST Board.
  • Continue informal gatherings of COTS members at AAI, ASN, FOCIS, and ITS.
  • Continue encouraging members to suggest initiatives and ideas through the quarterly blog.
  • Encourage transplant scientists to become AST and COTS members.
  • Aim to send quarterly updates with COTS initiatives and accomplishments.
