Continuing Education

Accreditation Statement
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and American Society of Transplantation (AST). The ASN is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement
The ASN designates this enduring material for a maximum of 9 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Assessment of Learning
The American Medical Association (AMA) has announced a modification in the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) and credit system effective July 1, 2011. A certified CME activity that endures over a specified time is considered enduring material. According to AMA, enduring materials released after July 1, 2011 must “provide an assessment of the learner that measures achievement of the educational purpose and/or objective(s) of the activity with an established minimum performance level…”[1]

This means that ASN-sponsored enduring materials will include a post-test based upon the material’s education purpose and/or learning objectives. Physicians participating in the learning activity will be given two (2) attempts to pass the post-test (minimum performance level = 70% correct).
